Tenth Sunday after Pentecost

Genesis 45:1-15

Romans 11:1-2a, 29-32
Matthew 15: 21-28

“ May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be an
acceptable offering in your sight, Oh Lord, my strength and my redeemer.”

In the church we talk about our “rule of life.” This is the way we live as
disciples. When I teach confirmation class, I explain that our rule should
involve personal prayer and meditation, corporate worship and acts of
charity – good works. The basics of my rule since college have involved
pledging a tithe, reading the Daily Office and attending Mass every week.
