Fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost
Exodus 14:19-31
Psalm 114
Romans 14:1-12
Matthew 18:21-35
“ May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be an
acceptable offering in your sight, Oh Lord, my strength and my redeemer.”
You folks have heard me preach on the desert fathers and mothers before.
These were the men and women who went to live in the desert in Egypt after
Constantine made Christianity the state religion in the early 300’s.
Christianity was fundamentally changed and it became more of a cultural
and social phenomenon for Christians.
